Congratulations to one of our lovely drivers, Peter Walshe, who was a deserved award winner in the volunteer minibus driver category at the 20th anniversary ceremony of the Devon County Council’s Community Transport Awards. Devon Community Transport groups, large and small, were represented among those receiving their awards in recognition of outstanding contributions in local communities from Councillor Margaret Squires, Vice-Chairman of DCC. They are the winning nominations from proposers who wanted to ensure that the efforts of their local community transport heroes are recognised and rewarded and the proposers were thanked for taking the time to submit their nominations.
Peter has been driving the Tavistock Country Bus for five years, as well as being the TCB Committee secretary. In typical Peter fashion he was quick to point out that he didn’t really feel he deserved the award or to be singled out because there are other drivers in TCB who are just as dedicated and go above and beyond their duty. He felt that is was really an award for all the volunteers that keep the Tavistock Country Bus on the road, serving the community.
